Welcome to College and Career Academy and College and Career Corps YouthBuild

The Los Angeles Education Corps (LAEC) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit established in 2008 as a charter management organization. In July 2026, our six historic campuses—previously operating as College Bridge Academy (CBA) and The Education Corps (TEC)—officially unified under a single, comprehensive public charter school: the College and Career Academy (CCA).  

Authorized by the Nevada County Superintendent of Schools, all CCA campuses are fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

Second Chance Charter High Schools Across Los Angeles
Located in resilient pockets of Los Angeles that have historically faced high crime rates and large, under-resourced traditional public schools, CCA serves as a safe oasis for young people. We believe that a student's value is never dictated by their environment.

Whether a student did not finish high school for personal reasons, or is simply seeking an alternative to massive, struggling school districts, everyone is welcome here. We operate six small learning communities of approximately 100 to 130 students each to ensure personalized support in:

  • South Los Angeles
  • Pico-Union
  • Paramount
  • Long Beach

Holistic Support Through High-Quality Nonprofits
We know that academic success requires more than just classroom time. Each of our six regional campuses partners directly with premier local nonprofits to provide robust wraparound services, job training, and career mentorship for our students. Our previous Los Angeles Education YouthBuild is now College and Careeer Corps YouthBuild.

Our integrated network includes:
  • Conservation Corps Agencies: Partnering with the LA Conservation Corps and the Conservation Corps of Long Beach.
  • YouthBuild Programs: Combining accredited high school education with hands-on vocational and leadership training.
  • WIOA Programs: Leveraging the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act to connect students with career pathways, paid internships, and employment readiness.
The Mission
​of the Los Angeles Education Corps is to create programming that meets the educational, vocational, and personal needs of underserved youth and young adults resulting in changed lives, families, and generations.


​Students

  • Recapturing Students:  On average, students are out of school 8 months prior to enrolling with us.
  • Catching Back Up:  Students complete remaining credits and graduate, on average, within 18-24 months of enrollment.
  • Second Chance for Young Adults:  Approximately 2/3 of our students are 18-23 years old.
