Noel graduated from San Diego State University with Bachelors in Psychology. He went on to obtain his Teaching Credential in English from CSU Dominguez Hills and his Masters in Administration (and Administrative Credential) from Pepperdine University. Prior to working for the charter school, he worked in the nonprofit world as a director for the Los Angeles Conservation Corps and in the

education world as a teacher for the Inglewood Unified School District. He came to us in 1996 as an English teacher at the South Los Angeles site, and has served as the Chief Executive Officer since 2008. What motivates him is to give disadvantaged students the opportunity to dramatically change their lives, which will not only impact themselves and their families but, ultimately, their communities and the world around them.

Tisha Middleton Chief Academic Officer- Programs
Tisha graduated from The University of San Francisco with a double major in Organizational Behavior & Dance. She went on to CSU Los Angeles, where she received her multiple subjects teaching credential, her administrative credential, and her Masters Degree in Educational Administration. Prior to coming to the charter school, she worked in the private sector as a human resources supervisor for Kaiser Permanente, and in the education world as a science and art teacher for the Los Angeles Unified School District. She initially came to LAEC as a science and English teacher at our Pico-Union site in 2006. She later became the director of our Watts site in 2011, served as our organization's Chief Operations Officer (COO) from 2012 through 2016, and now serves as our Chief Academic Officer, overseeing all of our school sites and programs. What motivates her is seeing our students successfully transition to post-secondary education despite all of their challenges. She is constantly amazed and motivated by seeing our students change themselves, their families, and their communities through this process. |
Andrea Klein-Garcia Chief Academic Officer - Operations
Andrea graduated from Lewis and Clark College in Oregon with a Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science. She obtained her teaching credential in science, and went on to obtain a Masters Degree in Education from CSU Los Angeles and a Masters Degree in Administration from CSU Dominguez Hills (along with her administrative credential). Prior to working with our charter school, she taught environmental education literally across the globe (Oregon, Maine, Alaska, and even Nepal). She came to LAEC in 2005 as a science teacher at a campus of ours in East Los Angeles (which has since been consolidated into our South Los Angeles site), and served as the senior director over our Pico-Union and South Los Angeles campuses during the 2015-16 school year, and has recently moved into a position where she serves as our organization's Chief Academic Officer overseeing operations, data, and instruction. What motivates her is seeing students experience academic success and connecting them to college and career opportunities post high school. |
Terry Frederickson Principal of The Education Corps/Saito High School - South LA
Terry graduated from CSU Dominguez Hills with a Bachelors Degree in Quantitative Economics and Sociology. She went on obtain teaching credentials in math, social studies, and physical education, as well as a Masters Degree in Public Administration. Besides working for our charter school, she also worked in the nonprofit world for AIDS Project Los Angeles, and in the education world for the Orange County Department of Education (Title 1 group homes), for Whittier Union High School District (teacher), and for Los Angeles Valley College (YESS program). She first came to LAEC in 2000 as the founding math teacher at our Watts site. She has served as the director of our South Los Angeles site since 2015. What motivates her is when she sees students turning their lives around and finding success through achieving their education goals. |
Jorge Hernandez Principal of College Bridge Academy - Compton
Jorge graduated from UC Riverside with a Bachelors Degree in Economics & Administrative Studies. Prior to coming to our charter school, he worked at Camino Nuevo Charter School, initially as a high school math teacher and later as a dean. He also worked in the private sector as a financial planner. He came to LAEC in 2008, where he served as the director of our Pico-Union site for seven years, and has served as the director of our Watts site since 2015. He then transitioned into his role at the El Sereno site in 2017 and in 2021 became the Compton principal. |
John Irie Principal of The Education Corps - Pico-Union
John graduated from CSU Northridge as a Child Mental Health Specialist. He continued that track pursuing a Masters in Educational Psychology with a PPS Credential in School Psychology at CSU Long Beach. He also received his multiple subject credential from Chapman University and his supplemental math Credential from UCLA. Working as a School Psychologist, his focus turned toward the classroom and he started working with the Los Angeles Conservation Corps in 1994. He came to LAEC in 1996 as the founding math teacher at our South Los Angeles site. What motivates him is to create an educational environment that is both engaging and meaningful for students who have struggled in traditional school settings, and to provide a foundation that will lead to the attainment of higher education and/or a promising career. |
Patricia Martinez Director of Special Education Patricia graduated from UC Davis with a double major in Animal Science and Chicano Studies. She went on to CSU Dominguez Hills to receive both her professional clear credential and Masters Degree in Special Education. Prior to working for the charter school, she worked as a nonprofit director for Living Literature Colors United, and also taught at the Crossroads School for Arts and Sciences, and for the Davis Unified School District. She first came to LAEC in 2000 as the founding science teacher at our Watts site, and has served as our Director of Special Education since 2008. What motivates her is that she is passionate about helping young adults who have been through so much and still want to earn their high school diplomas, particularly those who have learning and behavioral challenges. |
Ariceli Rojas Post-Secondary Transition Director
Ariceli Rojas attended Los Angeles Trade-Tech and East Los Angeles College and earned an Associate's degree in Administrative Justice. She then transferred and graduated from California State University, Los Angeles with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. Prior to becoming the Post-Secondary Transition Director, Ariceli was a student at one of our LAEC campuses (TEC-Pico Union). She says she knows the importance of being the first in the family to pursue higher education. As an Alumni at LAEC, her goal is to help support her students by providing equitable support and services by meeting their educational and career goals. She sees herself as one of her students on a daily basis as it reminds her every single day that hard work does pay off and that we can all accomplish our goals and dreams through grit and hard work. |
Alton Sakado Principal of College Bridge Academy - Watts
Alton earned an Associate's Degree from Rio Hondo College plus a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies and a Master's Degree in Education Foundations from CSU Los Angeles. He began his career at LAEC at Eco Academy as PE teacher. After two years he transitioned into the role of Dean of Students at Watts where he made a tremendous impact over five years before beginning his journey as principal in 2017. Alton says he "truly loves working with our population because they glow brighter than any other student when they find success. As a school, we believe everybody deserves success." Sigifredo Torres Principal of College Bridge Academy - Inglewood
Sigifredo graduated from CSU Dominguez Hills with a Bachelors Degree in Political Science and Economics. He obtained his teaching credential in social studies and went on to obtain a Masters Degree in School Leadership and his administrative credential. Prior to working with our charter school, he taught social studies for the Los Angeles Unified School District. In 2014, he helped to open our CBA El Sereno site as the founding Social Studies teacher. What motivates him is helping students to become responsible citizens and life-long learners. |
